Yarona FM first hit the airwaves on the August 22, 1999 as the first privately owned commercial radio station in Botswana. Broadcasting in Gaborone and surrounding areas at first, the station is now available on a national platform since May 2008. Yarona FM programming is tailor made to suit the previously ignored urban and peri-urban youth audience.
