In 1987, Adamas Ltd was opened as a retail outlet for the diamonds being produced in the diamond cutting works. The owner was called to the front gate of the premises, to entertain the request of some visitors from overseas if they could get a tour of the famous diamond-cutting factory of Mauritius. The current chairman obliged, and tours began. Some of the tourists began asking if they could buy some diamonds, to which he replied by opening Adamas Ltd., which is actually the Greek word for diamond. Today, Adamas Ltd have three stores locations around Mauritius, an attached shopping centre at the Floreal location and a museum, documenting the history of diamond cutting in Mauritius and the world; explanations and the nature of the worldwide industry of diamonds and their manufacturing processes.
L’aventure débute avec l’ouverture de la plus grande taillerie de diamants dans l’Océan Indien en 1970 sous le nom de L.S.P Ltd. Mi 1800 en Belgique,la famille Denton commença le travail de diamant. En 1920, l’arrière grand parents de M.Stephen P Denton immigra avec sa famille de polisseur de diamants en Afrique Du Sud qui été l’un des leader de la taille et de vente de diamants pour pratiquement 60ans. C’est Albert Goldstein, le beau pére de Stephen Denton qui prit le large de la taillerie de diamants à Maurice en 1980 et juste après c’est au tour de Stephen Denton. En 1983, Mauriden est ouvert par Stephen Denton pour satisfaire une demande supplémentaire de diamants par des clients et une commande eventuel pour la fabrication de bijoux. LSP et Mauriden étaient jusqu’ici actif dans la taillerie,passant par le polissage jusqu’au produit fini.
