Phoenix Beverages Limited (PBL) is a public company listed on the Stock Exchange of Mauritius. It was incorporated on September 9, 1960 and started trading in 1963. Today, PBL ranks amongst the top companies of Mauritius, where it is the leading beverages company.
With a turnover of Rs 3 billion and employing more than 1000 employees, PBL produces an average of 1.2 million hectolitres of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks and delivers its products to over 9,000 outlets.
PBL acquired the whole share capital of Phoenix Camp Minerals Ltd (PCM) in 2008. PCM was incorporated in 1931 and is the sole authorised bottler of Coca-Cola Company Ltd in Mauritius.
PBL also produces and sells under contract agreement with Diageo, world famous brands such as Guinness Foreign Extra Stout, Malta Guinness and Smirnoff Ice for the local market.
Situated in the town of Phoenix, PBL was born from the strategic merger of Phoenix Camp Minerals (PCM) and Mauritius Breweries Ltd (MBL).
For more than
50 years, PCM has been offering beverages solution to the Mauritian population. As the sole bottler of Coca-Cola Company Ltd in Mauritius, PCM has cultivated a long established relationship with the Atlanta based company, since 1931. The world-famous and well appreciated soft drinks, Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite, Schweppes, are bottled since then, at the production site commonly known as the ‘Limonaderie’ (or Limo). The plant shelters state of the art equipment and is compliant to Coca-Cola’s HACCP Certification.
Situated near the round about at Pont Fer, the Mauritius Breweries Ltd is a landmark for all road users going to the upper Plaine Wilhems. Today, many of the motorists refer to the round about as rond point la bière (the Beer roundabout), where the emblematic Phoenix bird watches over the traffic.
MBL was incorporated in 1961 and its flagship brand, the Phoenix Beer was launched on 26th August 1963. Since then, it has become the preferred beer of Mauritius.
MBL was quoted on the Stock Exchange of Mauritius since 1993. Today, PBL is ranked among the top companies in Mauritius and manufactures other alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks namely Blue Marlin Beer, Guinness, Malta Guinness and Pearona.
Today, PBL is the new PCM/MBL. This strategic merger is a great opportunity for PB
