In 1983, (HRH) Prince Khaled Bin Sultan established a 1680 hectare farm, located
95 km southwest of Riyadh, transforming it into an oasis dedicated to Arabian
Horses, Wildlife Reserve and Agribusiness. Since then Al Khalediah Farm has not
only emerged as a stronghold of pure Arabian horses’ production, winning
accolades in national and international championships, it has given birth to the
annual Arabian Horse Festival, held since January 2008.
Aside from being an event that now graces Riyadh’s annual social
calendar, welcoming guests and equestrian enthusiasts from worldwide, this ‘A’
class Festival is a celebration of the Arabian horse, initiated to foster the
equestrian disciplines in which this extraordinary animal competes.
Held annually for five consecutive days under the patronage of
HRH, Prince Khaled Bin Sultan Bin AbdulAziz Al Saud , Al Khalediah Farm, the
headquarters of His Highness’s farms in Tebrak city, come alive with equestrian
disciplines that reflect the significance of the Arabian horse as integral to
the nation’s history. There is an auction of exceptional purebred Arabian horses
on the first day; a racing display of Arabian racehorses on the second; while
the final three days showcase the acme of the Festival, a three day
International Arabian Horse Show exhibiting the magnificence of these
animals.
