As of the 1st April 1998, Daikin Industries had purchased a subsidiary company previously owned by Dorbyl Ltd called Centurator. Centurator was a leading South African Air Conditioning company that was founded on the 1st September 1950. In 1969 a distribution agreement was concluded between Centurator and Daikin Industries Ltd of Japan to import and supply their full range of air conditioning products to the South African market. As of the 1st April 1998 Centurator became Daikin Air Conditioning South Africa (Pty) Ltd.
