ALSTOM transformers are robust double wound, fully insulated, oil immersed and naturally air-cooled. The transformers are designed, manufactured and tested to SABS 780 specifications. Product RangeThe product range includes single and dual-phase pole mounted units of cylindrical design and three-phase rectangular units, which may be either pole mounted or ground mounted as required. ALSTOM converter transformers (VSD Drives) are designed for industrial applications and are manufactured and tested to SABS IEC 613781 standard. ALSTOM NEC/NER Auxiliary transformers are the sole units approved to the latest Eskom specifications. ALSTOM also manufacture a range of Eskom approved SWER and Isolating transformers
CoolingTransformers are oil immersed and natural air-cooled. CoreCores are constructed of cold rolled high quality magnetic core steel whist innovated designs and clamping arrangements ensure that ALSTOM transformers are the most compact low mass units. WindingsAll windings are double wound and fully insulated. Winding construction can be applied using either copper or aluminium to suit customer requirements. TappingsOff circuit tap changers in the appropriate winding cater for adjustment to standard consumer voltages from non-standard line voltages. TanksALSTOM tanks are robustly constructed from high quality steel plate and welded to withstand vacuum processing. Radiators with elliptical tubes or corrugated fins are fitted on larger units for cooling purposes. Paint and surface treatmentAll tanks and related parts are shot blasted prior to being, externally treated with a rust preventative undercoat and two top coats of heavy duty outdoor oil paint. Special finishes for corrosive areas are supplied as required and approved by Eskom. Insulation High-grade diamond dot electrical paper and pressboards as used in our transformers and are routinely impregnated with transformer oil.
LV windings are fully and uniformly insulated and HV windings are insulated according to specification and requirements. TestingAll transformers are routine tested to SABS 780 specification. Special tests can be arranged onrequest. Fittings and accessoriesThe range of transformers available reflect the latest trends in transformer design in that cost effective base units are available with the minimum of accessories. However, an extensive range of accessories has been developed to allow customization of transformers to meet the specification requirements of individual customers.
