The compilation of the Comprehensive Infrastructure Business Plan is a culmination of extensive work that commenced early in 2000 with the Redeployment of the Mafikeng International Airport (MIA) as an international port of entry and a hub for non-scheduled international cargo services that have the potential to extend the existing infrastructure into an Industrial Development Zone.
The strategic intent of the programme is to facilitate and coordinate the Industrial Development of Mafikeng and its surrounding area’s by designing, building, operating and managing a world class industrial development zone and to establish viable investment opportunities and recruit potential public and private investors within the identified industrial clusters such as the 1) minerals beneficiation cluster, 2) the aviation cluster, 3) the zone wide skills development cluster, 4) agricultural beneficiation cluster, 5) high tech electronic components cluster and to facilitate trade between South Africa (North West Region), the rest of Africa and the rest of the world through the common customs secure area, the electronic order board and the electronic diamond exchange or bank
