From a small family-owned mill which started more than a century ago, Ruto Mills has grown to a hi-tech subsidiary of Foodcorp (Pty) Ltd.
Today Ruto Mills is the largest single milling operation on one site in the country. Production levels have reached 60 and 25 tons an hour of wheat and maize respectively. The oil extraction plant, adjacent to the mills, extracts 10 tons of crude maize oil from germ an hour.
The bulk of the flour produced by Ruto is supplied to Foodcorp's bakery chain, Sunbake. A range of prepared mixes is also supplied to in-store bakeries
