The SA-NCC was launched in May 2005 in Sandton, Johannesburg, at a prestigious event attended by more than 150 business-people and media as well as then Nigerian High Commissioner, His Excellency Dr. Tunji Olagunju.
The SA-NCC is a non-profit organization created for the promotion, facilitation and assistance of Nigeria-related business.
SA-NCC was the second African bilateral chamber in a growing family of Chambers, and has been recognised by the Intergovernmental Committee of Experts of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa - Southern African centre as a best private sector practice in the promotion of regional integration.
Nigeria has a fast growing economy, and is a country rich in natural resources but has also proved to be one of the most challenging countries in Africa in which to conduct business. The Chamber assists South African businesses to access the Nigerian market, helping them to understand and adapt to Nigeria's rules and culture, which are very different from those in South Africa.
The chamber holds a number of events during the year, mostly breakfast meetings addressed by experts on the country both from South Africa and Nigeria. Sponsors for these events have included Standard Bank, MTN, Southern Sun, First Bank of Nigeria and KPMG.
Topics typically include details of doing business in Nigeria, political and economic overviews, a look at business opportunities and risk management strategies. Members receive preferential rates to our events and timely notification of other events that may be of relevance.
