Blaauwklippen - the name itself is almost
a legend. Its literal translation is "blue cliffs" or "blue stone".
However, it would be too easy to say that the name comes from the
grey-blue colour of the granite cliffs. Many believe that it comes from
the play of light in the small stream that flows through Blaauwklippen.
It is said that the stones that lie in its blue waters contain a mineral
which gives the cliffs their colour.
These romantic surroundings provide the ideal backdrop for a variety of
different experiences. Our greatest desire is to provide a true sense of
hospitality to all our guests. Enjoy European and South African
specialities in our charming Barouche Restaurant, or step into the past
with a visit to our carriage museum or see the estate from a somewhat
different perspective during a ride in one of our antique carriages.
Blaauwklippen also offers a wonderful ambience for private parties as
well as a tranquil setting for conferences or training functions. Every
detail, every word, every gesture reflects the high standard of quality
we offer our guests. Come and see for yourself.
