From humble beginnings...
"Great idea to make a local beer, so how to go about it?" That was the question facing us after our epiphony of the night before! With the aid of the internet, a few new friends and quite a bit of luck we set about converting three old and very used copper geysers into a hot liquor tank, a mashtun and a boiling copper. Lo and behold we had our first mini brewery! Now to make beer...
Our first two attempts didn't produce the results we were naively expecting and to be frank were mouth puckeringly awful. Not to be deterred we kept at it until we came up with a very drinkable lager style beer.
The problem we now faced was one of consistency brewing our beer in sufficient quantities and therefore we invested in our current system. Our new brewery has a long and colourful history but suffice to say we now have a professional set up and the capability of brewing enough of Napier's finest to keep our thirsty locals happy.
