Planning and Studies Department
The Planning and Studies Department (PSD) shall:
Analyze power and water demand in Abu Dhabi and prepare long term forecasts for up to 10 years ahead for the system expansion, and short term forecasts for the current year and next year for Bulk Supply Tariff (BST) purposes.
Analyze and recommend technical and economic options for meeting the forecasted requirements for generation and desalination capacity
Analyze the impact on the transmission and distribution systems of the forecast change in generation capacity and configuration
Prepare and publish the Seven Year Planning Statement which shows the demand forecast and the recommended options for meeting capacity needs
Conduct special studies and investigations, including:
Demand Side Management
Environmental aspects
Impact of new technologies
As requested by Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA)
Provide assistance in the preparation of Power & Water Purchase Agreements (PWPA) and BST to ADWEC PCD
Prepare Statistical Reports
Liaise with other Departments as and when needed
Participate in Revision of Water & Electricity Related Codes
Furnish Technical Information to internal and external agencies as requested and as appropriate.
Assist the Finance and Administration Department with checking the plausibility of the monthly invoices.
