On July 1st 2009 National Geographic Channel Abu Dhabi was launched as the first ever free to air National Geographic channel
• As part of a larger vision for Abu Dhabi and the Abu Dhabi Media Company, the channel was created from a shared vision to enhance the region's respect and understanding of the natural world and environment
• The National Geographic Channel Abu Dhabi aims to inspire a life-long passion for learning
• Built on the original mission of The National Geographic Society, the TV Channel contributes to the Society’s mission of exploration, education and conservation
