Dubai – In its opening day, Global Village, a member of Tatweer Dubai and the much celebrated tourism destination in Dubailand, achieved a large-scale entry in the Guinness Book of World Records. A new record of having 3,032 children being read to by 87 adults in one location was set at the Global Village Ampitheatre last 12 November 2008. The previous registered world record being 1,632 children read to by 47 adults.
The historic event gained a wide international media attention as it coincided with the fourth world records international day organized by Guinness world records and was covered at length amid a global media coverage that witnessed several world records being broken all over the major cities in the world.
The participating schoolchildren from the Kindergarten Starters, a GEMS school in Garhoud, did not only achieve to break a world record but also played a part in an equally important goal of contributing 3,032 books for the Million Book Challenge for Dubai Cares. Each child will receive an individual world record certificate to commemorate the event.
